1. Information We Collect

We only collect minimal, necessary data to provide legal aid services, including:

• Name, contact details, and relationship to detainee (for applicants)
• Case type, detention location, and urgency
• Device information (for security and analytics)

2. Purpose of Data Use

Your data is used solely to:

• Process legal aid applications
• Assign cases to qualified lawyers via AI
• Provide real-time case tracking
• Generate LSK reports and analytics

All processing aligns with Article 31 (Privacy) and Article 48 (Access to Justice) of the Constitution of Kenya and the Data Protection Act 2019.

3. Data Protection

We implement strong safeguards:

• End-to-end encryption and AES-256 on AWS
• Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) – only authorized users see relevant data
• Anonymization: Case IDs (e.g., D1–D31) replace personal identifiers in reports
• Data is retained only as long as legally required and securely deleted afterward

4. Your Rights

Under the Data Protection Act 2019, you have the right to:

• Access, correct, or delete your data
• Withdraw consent at any time
• Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC)
